Steps in a clinical trial
In order to introduce a medical device with new efficacy into market, safety of the medical device shall be established by non-clinical tests such as physical, chemical, electrical and biological safety, and performance tests prior to notification of a clinical trial to PMDA. Then, safety and effectiveness of the medical device is tested by involving human subjects in accordance to protocol approved by IRB.
